The new year approaches. The old one, and all its stories, all its necessities, all its events and ties and strings of connection, is falling backwards away from this place.

In my last post of 2023 I want to leave you with two writing prompts - one prose, one poetry - to take forward. They’re based on Carol Ann Duffy’s poem New Year. But first, let’s analyse the poem and see how it works.
