What the Trees are telling You
Journalling prompts reflecting on the significance of trees, plus Write Now dates, Book club freebies and mentoring discounts
I’m not long back from a walk down the lane with the elderly dog. Where September feels like a transitioning month, October feels like Autumn is really getting its teeth into the year. There’s a rowan tree in the village that has already lost its leaves completely. Even though it’s warm out, the drizzle and the dark evenings have set my internal autumn clock to prep for hibernation. This week I made a slow cooker veggie sausage Guinness stew (delicious) and butternut squash soup and I wore slouchy socks and big cosy jumpers. I’m itching to do some writing, but daren’t start any new project yet because I’m still working on edits for The Ghost Lake and I want to stay focussed. Instead I’ve been updating my socials, updating my website, putting a few plans in place while I wait for the next intense writing weeks of shaping the book up.
Each time I head out in my wellies and waterproofs I find myself taking pictures of the trees in change. I am trying to pin down the point at which the leaves go from turning, to turned. I gather conkers, seeds, tiny twigs covered in lichen. This is my way of connecting. Last Sunday I sat down and sketched for an hour, drawing and shading two conkers still in their fleshy pod. It’s been years since I attempted any kind of art. It was freeing to be creating in a different way, and I was very pleased with the results!
Today’s journal prompts are about the tree-connection, particularly at this time of year.
Below you’ll find your downloadable journal pages to go with the journal prompts from September. First though, here are some exclusive discounts and freebie bits and pieces for you, the paid subscribers.
