This is an absorbing and daunting portrait, of you the writer Wendy.

"I did not want to exist in a story of loss, making do with the leftovers of a previous life. This was the moment that I jumped towards myself."

On the above quote, it's the point where realisation hits. a lightbulb dazzles, and you know that something profound has been gifted to you. Change becomes feasible, something to move towards.

Excuse me if I say that we are like dogs. We come alive when we move, which is why going out for a walk changes that stuckness. There's an unconscious dream processing going on that gets us out of stuck states. The same with that 3am wakeful rumination. Our bodies are stuck, horizontal, lifeless. Movement is key.

I wish you well with your novel. Some of it you will write while you are not looking and thinking. That flow state. 💚

Thank you Glenn. This really resonates with me. I find I do more writing on walks when my mind isn't 'actively' trying to solve problems than any other time.

How well I recognise that feeling of victory from 'diving into the archives I can access online and finding inventive ways to access paywalled research papers, mostly successfully'! And how well I know the frustration of the lost reference, the record that was found and now is lost. Such a comfort to know that I am not alone in this. Thanks, as ever, for sharing more of your writing life—which is, of course, your very life.

You are very welcome, I'm glad I'm not alone e in the lost reference hell!

So interesting to hear about your week. You do well not to be distracted by everything that makes up a (writer’s) life. Lovely to read about you caring for your mum.

Thank you so much for sharing yourself, Wendy. You have no idea how refreshing and uplifting your posts are--and, I want you to know I keep you and your mum in my thoughts and prayers always. ♡

I love this picture of your week, Wendy. Thank you. Lots of similarities to mine, though I haven't written anything like the 5,000 words you have. I keep getting distracted from what I should be writing by things I want to research. And just as I was thinking I should soon be able to pay off the last of my car's MOT bill from my credit card, today the insurance reneal forms have arrived. I k now payment is due in the second week of next month so I'm going to ignore it for now, but its really depressing. However there are lots ofo ther encouraging things going on so I just need to force myself to get my head down and carry on with work that will get me paid.

It's a constant push and pull isn't it. I am the same with research by the way, I have to be so strict with myself. Research takes a long time for me as quite often I'm not sure what I'm looking for, and actually quite often I have to research how to search for it in the first place.

Absolutely – though research is also IMMENSELY enjoyable!
